Make a mask without sewing a stitch. This is important to me. I am 79 years old, a Type II diabetic and have survived throat cancer twice. My wife and myself both have compromised immune systems. I don’t intend to stay in my house forever. COVID-19 is not going to control the rest of my life. Medical supplies are not available because of outsourcing our manufacturing.
We will be wearing masks for a long time. I saw how to make a mask on TV using rubber bands. The mask that I made was uncomfortable, and pulled on my ears. I modified the design, and I hope it works for you.
One of the key elements to my design is that most people already have the items need around their house. If not they are easily obtainable without leaving your house. The items that I used I already had. They were from Harbor Freight.
A San Luis Obispo County Health Official went on the news and was showing how to reuse a cloth mask and I was appalled. They showed removing the mask, setting it down and than reusing it. Sanitation wasn’t used. This mask can be dismantled and sanitized. I personally dismantle the mask, set it out for a couple of days, and then put it in the laundry and wash it with bleach.
Making your mask without sewing a stitch is easy.
You can make the mask any width that you desire. I used the construction string instead of rubber bands in the original design. This was done so I could control the width.
I tried one band around my head and it didn’t feel comfortable. It was hard to keep the mask in place. I settled on two bands, one on the top and the other on the bottom. I didn’t put the bottom around my head, but put it under my chin. This held the bottom down.
If the ties were to loose, the mask slips down from you nose. When it is to tight, it is uncomfortable e to wear for long periods. . The nose bracket was made with a paper clip. I opened it up and folded it so I wouldn’t have any sharp pointed edges poking through the mask.
The paper clips were folded and wrapped with scotch tape. Before I put the mask on, I bend the paper clip to fit over my nose.

I am not a representative for Harbor Freight nor am I an independent contractor for them. These are the products that I used. I already had them in hand. Use your imagination. Group a few twisters from the market to make a nose bracket. Cut up any material for the cloth needed.
