Health care for all. It sounds wonderful, but is it possible to do it? The Bernie Sanders plan is so full of holes that it isn’t funny. He wants to start by adding a 7 percent payroll tax. Wow! We should raise the minimum wage. Our party would look good and then the government can get it back from taxes and other fees.
The political parties would all like to put a workable plan that would give health care for all. They are all faced with the expense. A program like this costs money. A health care plan has to have substance. Obama care and medicare are a bust. Both are a political football. Neither of them are adequate. The government is always looking for ways to cut costs. Do you think that a new plan would fare better.
Would health care for all work?
Doctors today don’t all accept medicare. Some of them accept some medicare patients but limit the amount of them. Becoming a doctor is a lengthy prospect. The doctors internship makes them almost a slave to the hospital. Internship is a lengthy proposition. It takes up a good portion of their youth. Health care for all can have a lot of negative connotations. The plan would require the whole system to be revamped. In countries with free medical you might die before you could get treatment.
The fall out has to be considered. Government plans and Insurance plans don’t pay the retail price for medical treatment now. Any government plan that I know has a co-pay. Some insurance plans have full coverage, but the premiums are expensive and most people can’t afford them. If you can’t afford insurance and you need medical care it can cost more than double.
We are being told that if the democratic health plan transpires, we would be able to keep our personal insurance. This is likely true. What is also likely true is that you wouldn’t be able to opt out of paying your “fair share” of the government plan. Bernie Sanders plan wants to delete Medicare co-pays and gives a good price for all. Other candidates have different ideas. Sounds good, but it won’t work.
